Government spending is one of the largest markets that investors and companies make decisions about, and nearly all of it is on the public record: budget justification books, committee reports, contract actions, obligations, solicitations and subawards.
Each source uses its own identifiers, programs change names between budget years, and one company can file under dozens of registrations. Teams end up rebuilding the same spreadsheets by hand, and the answers are hard to defend because the sources are hard to show.
Government revenue follows the budget cycle
Contract revenue moves with appropriations, option years, recompetes and the habits of individual buying offices. Those patterns appear in the public record months before they reach a company's results, once the record is joined together and read over time.
